Message: did an oil/filter change, not too messy.
the factory service manual and owners manual both say to use 4 quarts of oil (including new filter).
filled fine, dipstick is great, runs great so far (haven't driven it off my street yet).
for the past 58k miles, my dealer has been doing my oil changes. the invoices charge me for 5 quarts of oil.
wtf???

Message: Take all the invoices back, show them the owner's manual which states the capacity, and demand the money back on all those quarts. Or tell them they ruined your valve seals by overfilling, and it burns oil and you want a new engine for free.

Sometimes with a filter change it takes 4.5 qts for the dipstick to read full. Dealer probably puts in 4.5 and charges you for 5. But since they are probably charging a buck a quart, why fight about overpaying half a quart.
