Might anyone happen to know if there are slide in type "campers" made for the Club Cabs w/6.5 foot box? Might anyone happen to have one for their own club cab? Maybe willing to send me a few pix of it on their Dakota CC? Thanks.

do you mean real campers with sinks and cabinets ans beds and stuff or do you mean the camper type nothing installed just a tall bed cover type? the true slide in camper is not recommended by D/C for the Dakota as it makes the truck very top heavy and tends to roll over in turns due to so much weight being so hi off the road for a small truck. Also most of those tend to weigh a lot more then the 1450 lb payload that the standard Daks are rated at, and are why you see so many on 2500 and 3500 trucks instead of 1500 model FULL SIZE pickmeups. If you mean just the hollow, no frills tops just about any model on the market is pretty good.

My brother has one similar to this on his Dakota Quad cab, fitted with supplemental airbag suspension in rear and 5.9 V8. Has used it for two years no problems.

a few months back in a truck trend issue they had a write up on a dakota they had a camper in... the write up was for a helper spring install but it looked good.

I have a 7 foot camper that I will be installing on my '04 Club Cab 4x4. My previous truck, '01 Ford Ranger Super Cab 4x4, handled the camper without a problem. It weighs about 1150 pounds, sleeps 4, and has a fridge, stove and furnace. When on the Ranger, the top of the camper was 9 feet high. The truck drove well, didn't feel top heavy and didn't sway. Campers for small trucks are hard to find, but they are available.
