Subject: How to cancel a pre paid maint contract IP: Logged
Message: Silly question here.
When I bought my truck last summer at this big ~SALE~ they talked us into the pre paid maintenance program. It wasn't suposed to cost me that much. But I bet they rolled it into there somehow.
Anyway. The thing is it is always a PITA to get my truck over to the dealer for the maintenance. I have to usually drop it off the night before and leave the keys in the drop box.
This last time now that it hit 15K miles I said screw it and just changed the oil myself. I always have and that is easier than to get it over to the dealer who I don't even get the chance to WATCH do it to know if they do it right or just throw the cheaper grease monkey kids onto it. Not too mention with the truck not even 1 year old I've been modding it more and more.
So, has anyone canceled their pre paind maintenance contract who would know what the BEST thing to tell the dealer would be besides "..it sucks driving it here, or I'd rather do it my self"?
BTW. We got a 2004 Grand Caravan Anniversary edition a few months back. I declined the maint contract on that one.

Message: someone finally got smart and refused a profit maker for the salesman. if you read the fine print it is "pre-paid" and getting your money back is a bit like getting blood from a turnip!

Message: When I traded in my Nissan Altima for my Dakota I got over $2k back from Gap, and the ext warranty and something else.
I am just tired of driving the truck over there at night and leaving it while they change the oil and such when I'm at work where I can;t watch them do it. Plus then I got to go back and GET the truck. Too much of a pain.
I just got to get in there and cancel my maint contract. If I say "I'm thinking of trading it soon" they'll do it for sure. Because last time I "talked" to them about trading in something they said to IMMEDIATELY go cancel extra coverages to get the money back to use against the new vehicle.
But this time, suckers, I'm NOT trading in my truck. I'll pay this thing off and keep it until it is wrecked or something. I'll have too many mods to want to start over!

Message: Graphite, do you still have the maintenance book that you take with you? I believe it's the one with the coupons for the oil changes, etc. It has a page in there about cancelling. Once I find it over the next couple of days I'll try to quote it.

Message: Hmm. Yeah I should have that in my glove box.
Got to cancel it soon. I already changed my own oil at 15K miles this time because I was too busy to get it in there. I also changed it in my 2004 Grand Caravan for it's 3K miles (1st) change but like I said I passed on the maint contract on the mini van.
