 Subject: Gas Leak

I was coming to a stop sign and dropped it into first gear to help slow me down (my brakes are shot) the engine went up to 3700 RPMs. Then I heard a belt squeeling. I was like $hit I blew something and now its leaking on a belt. A block later I get home and looked underneath and there was gas dripping pretty heavily from the passenger side. I ate dinner and an hour later I went back out. I started her back up looked Underneath and so no gas leaking. So I put her in reverse and Boom there goes the squeeling sound again. Look underneath and yep gas dripping pretty good.
What do any of you think happened. What should I check. I am a REAL novice when it comes to fixing cars and any help would be welcomed.
