Subject: Need a Cat Converter IP: Logged
Message: Like the subject says, I'm looking for a cat to replace the one that "was" on my 2002 4.7L 4x4 Dakota. I'm referring to the 3rd cat, that has no o2 after it. I removed it a while ago, I gutted it, put it back on. Hated it, then removed it and pitched it. I know, stupid move. But if anyone has an idea where I can get a replacement, that would be awesome.
Besides the dealer and junk yard.
Also will a universal fit in that little cubby hole?
Thanks

Message: Whats up Clevite! Haven't seen you around in a while. Look on ebay for the cat. You should get a free flow. Carsound make a 2.5" that would work just fine. I'm not sure of the part number though. You could probably email carsound for that. I've heard the guy on ebay with the store is pretty easy to deal with plus his prices are cheaper.
I think v8performance.com sells them too.
How's the boat? I think I remember you getting one a while back.
Later!

Message: Hey Buddy,
What's up. I did see that guy on e-bay. So a 2.5 in/out would work ok for me? Do you think it would fit in the little space the original was in?
I haven't been on here in a while, just because of all the stupid horsing around and child's play. This place was once a terrific place for information, I was on these boards almost always, but it went downhill real fast. A lot of people have moved to DodgeTrucks.Org (DTO) very awesome site without any nonsense. You should come over to the dark side. Lots of Dakota's over there and the help is great, and without all the stupid crap.
You're right, I do have a boat. And it's in the middle of MI in storage right now, and I plan on taking it out within a couple weeks. It needs some work though. I had an older guy from work (an old boater) come over and help me winterize it. We found out the blower motor (pulls gas vapors out of the boat, used when starting to prevent explosion) wasn't working, it was making noise, so I thought it was, but actually, the shaft was spinning in the blade, and the blade was cocked in the housing. Also we took the lower unit off, and saw that my impeller is missing some rubber fins (pulls fresh water into the heat exchanger)
So how's your truck running? I was having all kind of starting problems, the dealer replaced the fuel pump twice, fuel pressure sending unit, the #1 injector, and even cleaned out the combustion chambers, but still no fix. (after sitting for 1-5 hours it would have a long crank, after sitting 8 hours, it would fire right up. Even in an the case where it would have a hard start, I could turn it off, and it would fire right up over and over.) I was changing out my home brew and going back to stock, and noticed that the breather filter came off, so after going back to stock. That fixed it.
Looks like this is a big enough post, so I'll stop here, stay cool man.

Message: I'd measure the cat you have now then go to carsounds web page and check deminsions of what they've got. I think the one v8performance.com has is a direct replacement. More than likely socaldakotas.com has the same one too.
Boats are a pain in the A$$. My personal boat luckily gives me only occasional problems. Not to long ago though my stearing cable and helm box blew out while I was out fishing! I was pissed. Luckily I wasn't far from the ramp and some guys gave me a tow. My work boats are always acting up. Damn Johnsons. They always give us problems. The one Mercury we have starts up like a champ everytime. The mercury on my personal boat is 16 years old in salt water conditions and starts up easier that some of our Johnsons. We have an Evinrude 4-stroke that runs okay but its beeing put in the shop for nickel and dime problems all the time. A water pump here, seal there, relay here, wiring harness there.
Trucks running like a champ. Just got my r/t rims with Kumho's put on as well as my tonneau cover, bed rail caps, and bedrug. I put the SSBC front disc upgrade on too. As far as repairs go I just had a small tune up and found out my drivers side hub assembly was blown out, and the front tie rod ends were gone too. The serpintine belt needed replaced and I had the rediator flushed. All is well now.
My next mod will probably be another exhaust upgrade. I'm gonna have a larger y-pipe made, a larger free flow cat, mandrel pipes, and a 3" Magnaflow. I was gonna do the GSMotorsports system but I don't have that kinda money right now and I don't like spintechs...to loud for me.
