You think there worth it? I have have the thing already, I got the K&N Xtreme 14x3 *i think or it might be 4* air filter.
I just wonder where I could put the snorkels to gather the air.

I have had one of these setups running for about 2 years. It will be the last intake i buy unless I went forced induction. Somewhere out on the web there was a page dedicated to setting this system up on the newer Dakotas. I can only give insight as to the older trucks.

I looked and that website on how to install the setup is no longer up.
Anyway the MSD box was one of the first mods I did years ago. I noticed a slight increase in fuel economy. I wonder now what it would be like if I were to have put it on last, would it compound what I have done so far and make the change more noticable. Talking with Marty at KRC he says it would make a difference when trying to pass emissions with a hot engine.
I didn't find it hard to install once I understood that it just goes in series before the coil. No big deal.

I've been using the ram air box on my 97 for about 5 years.
The box itself needs some minor, not major modifications in order to fit at the firewall ... just a cut of the curvature of the box and fiberglassing a straight piece onto it. To get clearance with the hood near the forward end of the motor you'll have to "bend" their flat base cleaner lid so that the forward part of the box will just rest on the front bolt of the a/c. This then allows you to use a 14" x 2.83" K&N with a flat top lid. There isn't enough room to use dome -type lids. You would not want to used the Extreme lid as it will in the hot, engine bay air.
As for the air ducts, a 4" diameter air duct (e.g. from Home Depost) will go to the passenger side of the rad with no problems just by removing the rubber flap at the grille. The driver's side or the rad will require some modding ... removing and relocating the overflow bottle and relocation the battery to the rear of the truck. Since I race, battery relocation was already on my list. As for the overflow bottle, I used one out of an 86 Mazda pickup (for its size/shape) and put it over on the pass. side of the rad. Just to clean up the install and make sure that all the air would go in the ducts, I fabbed in shaped pieced to cover the gaps at both sides of the rad, cut in 4" holed and put in duct holders. In the winter I disconnect the ducts and put duct caps on the holders.
Did dyno. runs with a 14 x 2.25 K&N filter kit, no air cleaner and the ram air setup. I don't have the figures on hand at the moment but fairly significant peak hp increases went in the order of the listed runs ... and on a dyno., except for the electric fan, you don't full measure of the "ram" affect. On the track with my scanner hooked up, baro. pressure increases by time I reach about 30 mph ... e.g. at rest at the staging lights baro. might read 29.7" ... at 30 mph, it'll read 30.1" or up ... my motor really makes power when baro. is 30" or up.
