Subject: Fog Lights not working
IP: Logged

Message:
I have factory fog lights in my 99 Dakota that don't come on. I checked to see if any power was getting to them, BOTH wires had power on both light plugs with the switch off or on. I pulled the fog relay and fuse, still I have power on all 4 wires up front with the switch on and off. I got the truck 3 years ago and they have never worked. Would I be better to just run some power and a new switch to get them going again. Thanks

Zook, if the lenses (plastic) are cracked and there is any moisture in them at all, the bulbs will burn...I went thru 2 bulbs before i figured that out. Other than that, dont know what to tell ya. Good luck.

The lense is fine. I can ground one terminal out and take power from either wire on that side and light that light up. Wierd

It's the switch itself on your dash board. Believe it or not I'm on my 4th one and they cost about $65 bucks from the dealer. Dash pops right out (just pull hard) and 3 screws on the switch to remove and it takes about 10 minutes.

my 1st one the fog lights stopped working
my 2nd one the fog lights stopped working
my 3rd one the head lights stopped working and only fog lights worked
now I'm onto my 4th one. I'm averaging about 1 a year...how sad.

$65 !!!! Is there any aftermarket ones or do I have to bend over for Dodge again. If not I will hit up a junk yard.

Havn't had any tranny problems, I have 101000 on the body and 3300 on a new motor. Its the 318 oil problem. I lost pressure and that was it. My ball joints are due for replacing also. I love the way the Dakota drives , I guess I would just like to see the quality of building them would improve. They would have a better market share between quality ,and standing behind issues we all know about.
