my engine light has been on all day... i can't find anything wrong with a visual inspection, the engine seems to be running normally, no odd sounds, power is fine, in fact the only thing telling me that there is something wrong is the light, having said that it did rain a lot last night, and the air in the cabin was cold and humid this morning, could this have any effect

i have a 2000 dakota with a v6 magnum, auto, 4x2

any insite with this problem would be useful

Make sure your gas cap is tight.

yup, done that

i probably should have made a note of all i did before posting

-checked the gas cap
-tried on off, on off, on off
-held trip meter switch while turning on to see if i get an error code, nothing displayed
-checked all hoses

its been raining heavy here for three days now, so i haven't tried disconnecting the battery to clear the computer yet

any other ideas

Could be an exhaust sensor problem. Have your 02 sensors checked. Cat coverter might be dirty or flawed.

thx

i ended up disconnecting the battery to reset the electronics, and the light disappeared

however i did install a poweraid tbi spacer about 6-8 weeks ago, which i forgot to mention (gas mileage has been much better ever since) and i didn't disconnect the battery when i did that, if the light comes back then i'll take a look at the o2 sensor first, failing that i'll probably take it to a shop
