For thos people who have the superchips, I have heard great performance news from it, but did it at all decrease your MPG? I just want to know what happened to the MPG when you added the programmer, thanks!!!

I've had mine for about 2-3 months. MPG is about the same. I am using the 91 octane performance program. I was hoping for better MPG to make up for the higher cost of 91 octane.

By the seat of my pants, I think the programer worked well. Superchips says I was hoping to dyno the dak sometime this year. I could try it with the program and without. I did find a place in NJ, but he wanted $150. I thought that was expensive.

Oops, I mis-wrote: Superchips says their tuner is programed for a stock engine. In answer to your question, I did the program after the mods. I figured the advance in timing work help milage and performance.

So with the programmer put in after all those mods, did you feel a NOTICEABLE difference?

I have noticed about a 2 MPG increase when using the high performance program. Also, there was an improvement in my 0-60 time of about .5 seconds. I have a G-Tech Pro Competetion which is suposed to be very consistent between runs in their own words:
With all of these valuable features we are very proud to announce that the accuracy is now within 5/100 second. With the consistency at 5/1000 of a second! Absolute Horsepower and Torque measurements are within 3% and consistency within .5%!

Notice the consistency between runs "5/1000 of a second".
When the truck was stock I averaged about 9.1 seconds 0-60. This was not surprising since I had read times of around 8.5 seconds in some major magazines. My time is slower than the magazines mostly because of the canopy on my truck. Which, adds between 200-300lbs to the trucks stock weight.
The stock times I have are with a vehicle weight of 4500lbs with driver and a half tank of gas. I have since found this to be incorrect since my weight + the canopy's weight should equal 500+ lbs. I weigh a little less than 250lbs. The truck should weigh at least 4200lbs by itself with a full tank of gas and without the canopy or me. You can see how 4500lbs is not correct. I used scales at a couple of Dump sites around here. I have returned to theose sites they now both say that the truck with me in it and a full tank of gas weighs 4800lbs. I have a 99 CC 4X4 sport with every option except the 6X9 rear view mirrors.
I have performed tests with the Superchips at both weights 4500 and 4800lbs. All of my results were produved using the same roads with the ambient temp around 70 degrees.
With the weight of the vehicle set at 4500lbs the times avereaged 8.7 seconds 0-60. That's an average of .4 seconds quicker.
With the weight set at 4800lbs and the Superchips high performance program installed, I have average times around 8.3 seconds 0-60. The stock times I have would be quicker than 9.1 if the weight was set to 4800lbs. Since, the unit measures G-forces. It would take more power to generate the same amount of Gs in a heavier vehicle. This G-Tech uses the weight to calculate acceleration times and hp/tq numbers.
I was really more interested in MPG since with the canopy I wasn't even getting the 13mpg city that Dodge claimed. I'm pretty happy with my 2mpg increase.
Anyway, that's my experience with Superchips.

Hi I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota 3.9L and I had upgraded the factory gears from 3.55 to 4.10, I was wondering if I purchase the chip, will I still be able to notice a differencce, now that I upgraded the gears? will the timing and fuel curves in the microtuner be useless because I upgraded my gears? thanks!

abercrombie,

I did notice good improvement at WOT and 3000 rpm and up. It has been the a great improvement over stock (w/ all the mods playing to together). I think the next time I change plugs, I'll increase my gap from .040~.045 to .050. Maybe that would help MPG.

BigDakota,

I think that changing gears help you bring the rpms higher for the same speed. The program would advance the ignition timing and fuel curves for the each RPM. So I would think there would be an improvement. Sorry, I no tech expert. Just an opinion. Maybe try writing Superchips.
