Message: I have heard that Dodge transmissions are not very good. Is this true or not. I am interested in buying a Dakota but I might not if the trannies are as bad as I hear they are.

Message: The Dodge trans are no worse than the Chevy or Fords. They all have problems. But if you wanting a durable combo then get a v6 5-speed.
2000 CC R/T 52mm TB, M1, 2.02 R/T heads (polished chambers), headers 3.5" exhaust, flowmaster 40 single, MP PCM, removed engine driven fan(It's back on now Damnit), MSD ign-BTM, Taylor "409" plug wires with boots, Keith Black pistons, 5140 rods, ARP head studs, Hotchkis suspension 2/3 drop, Transgo shift kit, lot's of little stuff! More to come!

Message:
If you buy a new Dakota change the tranny fluid at or around the
first oil change (the factory fluid sux).
I highly recommend AMSOIL SYNTHETIC ATF for ALL automatic
transmissions unless it is an old transmission that hasn't been
serviced properly or it leaks fluid.

Message: I have teh 2001 Quad Cab with 4.7L, 5-speed manual and 3.55 gears. My manual transmission went bad at 50,000 and we drive like old people. Before anyone tells you the "Chrysler" transmissions are junk, let me tell you my friend has a 2001 GMC 1500 Sierra, and it has PRECISELY the same transmission, the New Venture NV3500. Just the case is shaped differently at the bell housing.
