 Subject: upgrading brakes

i am thinking about getting large rims (either 20s or 22s) and i've heard that if you get such a large rim that you need to beef up your brakes in order to stop the heavier wheel. does anyone know if this is true or not?

Im not positive, but i would think so. At least on anything bigger than a 20inch. Thats what ive heard.
