Message: A bad torque convertor control solenoid will cause the trans to overheat. This is because the the trans slips when in overdrive and causes excess heat. Usually you can disable the overdrive and the trans will cool down and the light will go away. Typically you will also get a Check Engine Light if this is the case.
Sometimes there is a blockage in the transmission fluid lines that prevents the fluid from passing through the radiator (or the separate trans cooler). This will allow the fluid to over heat.

Message: Well what happens is there is a sensor inside of your transmission that tells a computer how hot the fluid is. Then if it gets real hot a light comes on. I hope this helps!
