Message: HOW DO YOU TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A 2001 R/T CLUB CAB AND A 2001 SPORT CLUB CAB WITH THE 5.9L? I KNOW A GUY WHO HAS ONE AND SOMEONE TOOK THE STICKERS OF IT. JUST CURIOUS.

Message: Should be about an inch lower, 17x9 wheels, larger diameter stainless looking exhaust outlet, stiffer springs, 3.92:1 gears, likely just a bit more 'loaded' than a sport plus, and his wallet should be a bit lighter.

Message: YEAH, THE GUY WHO BOUGHT IT SAID THE WHEELS WERE OFF IT, THE STICKERS, EVERYTHING. APPRARENTLY SOMEONE MADE SLEEPER OUT OF IT. HE HAS A COMPLETE AFTERMARKER EXHAUST. HE DOES HAVE A REAR SWAY BAR, DID THE SPORTS HAVE THAT? IT DOES HAVE THE 3.92'S IN IT AND THE TRUCK IS LOADED WITH EVERYTHING EXCEPT POWER SEATS. SOUND R/T TO YOU?

Message: My 2001 R/T came with the overhead cpu with the mileage tracker thingy and power driver's side seat. Also i've heard that the R/T's have an aluminum drive shaft(not sure but he said it was definitly different than the other daks.

Message: Look at the drive shaft. R/T's have aluminum drive shafts. You have to look at the yoke area because the tube part is rubber coated to reduce noise.
Also, if it is a Club Cab and it came factory with a 5.9L then it's an R/T. The only way you can get a 5.9L in a Club Cab is to get an R/T or put it in yourself.
Another thing to look for is a transmission cooler. You can see it through the lower front valence panel. It's approximately 7" tall an 24" wide. Also, the R/T has all the front and rear bumpers/plastic painted body color. The Sports only have the grill and bumpers painted. The plastic inserts in the bumpers of the sport will be black.

Message: alexf,
I don't know about 96's. I know my 92 and my 94 Sport Daks had steel drive shafts. I don't see any reason for them to put one in there. It may have come with it, but I doubt it.

Message: Well read this gentelmen... When I bought my new
02 Dak Sport 4X4 with 4.7, I called my insurance
to make sure the dealer called everything in ok.
They told me the VIN number shows it to be an
R/T. I told them it was not and would be happy to
bring the Dak to them and show them why. They
then told me he cost to insure it was no
different anyway.
So gentelmen, I have a 02 Dak Sport 4X4, 4.7, R/T.
Top that!

Message: WipLash, you cannot tell an R/T by the drive shaft. My 99 Dak Sport 5.2 has a alum. shaft and it is not coated with anything. BTW, when I bought my truck new I also looked at a 5.9 club cab SLT. The only sure way is to check the VIN everything else can be changed.

Message: Know it all is very very wrong! Wip is right, there are no club cab 5.9's in anything but an rt. but as for the driveshaft story he is way off. I had a 200 cc v6 with alum shaft. and my friends rc 98 rt has a steel one.

Message: Well, I guess I was wrong about the aluminum shaft. I thought it was an R/T only option...guess not.
For whatever reason, my 2000 R/T has a black coating about 1/8" thick that looks like a hard rubber/neopreme sleeve. Maybe that's an R/T thing. The only reason I can think they may have put the vulcanized rubber sleeve around the shaft is to reduce noise (ding). So, why don't the SLT's have the rubber coating?
Either way, if it has a 5.9L and it's a RC or CC then it's an R/T.
