Subject: Jumping around IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2003 Club Cab SXT V6. I have noticed more and more that when I drive around corners that has some bumps in the road thae truck seems to hop around sometimes pretty severe. Would new shocks help this or is it the fact that the rear is light?

Message: That's pretty common with all pick ups. There just isn't enough weight back there to get the suspesnion moving down in to the springs. So you tend bounce along the top of the springs, rather than down in to their operating range. Try putting a little weight back there. You generally don't need much, usually a couple tubes of sand are plenty, and should cost less than $10.
Also, the factory shocks are not that good. Consider a better aftermarket set. Like Rancho or Monroe.

Message: Mine got worse after putting on new shocks (stiffer). Old shocks rode good but were worn (compressed them all the way down by hand).

Message: You can also adjust rear spring rate a bit by lowering the air pressure in the rear tires. The stock shocks aren't well suited to the springs in an unloaded truck.
