Subject: ???Noise??? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 01' Quad Cab 4.7L 33,000 miles. When making a 90 degree left or right hand turn I can hear a rubbing noise from the rear. I checked the tires and the wheel wells and there are no indications of rubbing. Does anyone have a clue as to what could be making the noise and what steps are needed to fix it???

Message: Is it a rubbing or grinding noise.Does it do it on a incline when you stop and make a turn. If it's a grinding sound then it probally is your rear differential if you have limited slip diff.
If this is the case, than try changing rear diff. oil and add a bottle of friction modifier additive. I reccommend the mopar brand.

Message: Thanks for the reply Daniel, but it happens on level surfaces, and if I had to bet a paycheck, I'd say it sounds more like rubbing than grinding. I'll check the rear differential none the less, I mean it couldn't hurt.

Message: Mine did it on level surfaces also, but usually after the diff. oil had had time to heat up. Ran fine till then.
