Subject: Oil Filler Extension for V8? IP: Logged
Message:
Got a '98 SLT with 5.2L/318... wondering if there is such a thing as a semi-permanently attached oil filler tube... A few inches long and screws into the oil fill point in the Driver's Side valve cover with provision to screw the cap on top. The OEM cap is kind of hard to get to (under radiator hose) and touches some wiring. If it stuck up above all that it would really be easy to add oil with less mess. Sources???? Thanks!

Message: Interesting idea, never seen one. Why not just use a funnel?

Message: I do use a funnel, but it doesnt solve:
1. doing contortions to get the oil cap off
2. getting a rag down there to catch drips when you remove the funnel
3. not having the right size funnel handy when adding oil away from home.
I was kind of used to this filler extension on my 5.0 Mustang... could flip an oil bottle upside down and let it sit there while it drained. Much easier to remove and replace the cap too. My oil-change time has increased as I have to hold the funnel and each oil bottle while it drains. No biggie, but before I could be prepping the next bottle, tossing out the last one, and picking up tools or dumping catch-pan. Parallel Processing!
