Subject: Power Steering Whine IP: Logged
Message: Hi,
I have a 2000 Dakota with a 4.7L V8. I sometimes get a loud whine/growl when turning, but I only get it after I drive straight for a while, usually at least 8-10 miles with no turning and it will not go away until the engine is off and has been able to cool off.
I never get the whine during normal street driving where I am turning a lot even after long periods of time. I am thinking its either the power steering fluid, pump, or belt. Any insight?
Thanks in advance,
Andrew

Message: my power steering was noisy, so i changed the fluid. just siphon all the old out, then pour new in. turn the wheel left to right sevral times and recheck the level.
hope this helps
