Subject: Headlight Removal IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 Club Cab. I took the three main screws out plus everything else I could see but the assembley refuses to come out. I have horrible patience with auto repairs and usually walk away before I break what I'm working on. I am trying to put super blue lights in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Message: I have pulled mine off 3 or 4 times to dry it out... it is pretty easy, but you have to be willing to pull a little bit. First, take the bulb out. You have to unscrew the "hub" that joins the bulb to the assembly. unhook the light and set aside. The assembly pops off of the adjuster screws with a bit of a tug, then you will need to pull up on the hood section above the assembly to clear the top adjuster housing.
I hate to be "that guy", but if you are replacing it, you really don't need to worry about breaking it... just pull.

Message: I had problems with mine also, there is a 'clip' (for lack of a better term) in the upper outside corner on both sides, (where there is no bolt) according to the manual you need to pull pretty hard to pop this clip off. Its a ball and socket type clip and you basically need to pull the ball out of the socket... the drivers side on mine was a pain... try a little wd-40 or something on that clip if its really giving your problems, other than that just pull.

Message: A good hard pull works. Why put superblue's in?? If you are trying to stay legal go for the Sylvania silverstars, if not, then there are lots of illegal brighter bulbs out there. You will be disapointed with the blues.
2002 QC 4x4 Sport Plus, 4.7L, auto, Patriot Blue, Tire & Handling group, Heavy Duty Service group, Leer cap w/out windows, Mopar Step bars and roof rack, Rhino liner in bed and on step bars, Pace Edwards Power Tailgate lock 3.55 rear, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, all possible fluids are AMSOIL

Message: Thanks fot the info. It was the upper outside corner that was giving me the problem. I bought the super blues because I knew for sure they were street legal.

Message: I'm totally disgusted with this truck. I've pulled and pulled and I still can't get those headlight assemblies to come out. It is sticking in the upper/outside corners of each side. I don't want to break them because I can guess what new ones would cost. I could have built an engine in the time I've wasted today.

Message: I have a neighbor, who is a mechanic, come over to help me. He wasn't impressed with the crappy design at all. Thanks for all of the advice guys. Pretty freakin' sad when it's a bitch to change a headlight.

Message: you must be very terribly misinformed about something as you seen to lack the knowledge that some of the chemicles in WD-40 will disolve plastics. I just hope the ones it disolves is not in your headlight assembley.
