After hours online I finally found that if you want to replace your rear Diff. speed sensor, get on the phone to your local Napa parts dealer, they have them. Here in CA $31....or get it from the dealer....ranging from $73-$100, its your choice.
The original problems:
Thanks first of all for all the pointers relationg to the ABS and BRAKE light staying on. My occurance happened when I was leaving a work site and was spinning the rear wheels in mud. From what I have researched here and over the web this is a problem with dodge and the fix appears to be replacing the rear speed sensor on top of the rear axle. The funny thing after a few attempts at other fixes I discovered I dont even have ABS on the truck and a few of the local mechanics around here have said that this problem is the case with dodges. So far I havent repaired mine but after an hour on the web looking for the part it looks like I will have to go to the dealer. If anyone finds an online source it may be a good idea to post a link.

Message: do you think the speed sensor would cause a sluggish speedo after a long burnout? (not that i would do something like that hehe) no abs or brake light just the speedo is a lil slower than it was.

Message: John which state is your dealer in? Maybe its just here in CA that the dealers rape you on prices.....in a 10 mile radius 3 dealers wanted anything from $73-$100....I mean come on they all pay the same price for the part. Dont they? Pat on the back for Napa
Mark yeah I know I said napa had them but that was a follow up to my first posting which is also copied here under "The original problems"
Dan there is a possibility that it could cause a problem with the speedo, I have read on the forum here that usually though the ABS & Brake lights are also on when people have a speedo fault but thats not to say yours arent. Read through a few of the forums and make a choice that way based on what others are saying.
As a foot note: I dont even have ABS on my truck, found that out when I was under the hood trying to get these darn lights off in the early stage of fault finding. I have no ABS relays or fuses, hence I have no ABS......makes you wonder why the put a lamp in the ABS display on the dash.....Maybe just to drive us all MAAAAD trying to figure out what it all means.
Napas part number for a rear wheel 2.5L 95 is
UBP530000 I think it fits most but you can check on their site

Must just be that since I live near LA that the local dealers think we are all made of money......anyway I went to napa and paid them a mere $33, just have to get time to fit the thing now.

Message: Ok guys I finally replaced the rear wheel sensor which maybe a fix for some (my truck doesnt have ABS). In my case this did not repair the fault. So I decided that I would trace the wiring from the sensor to see where it came from. On following it forward on the drivers side chassis it ends up in the engine bay. Now this is where my problem lay. If all dodges are like mine and as the wiring loom passes along the chassis it also passes up to the engine bay via the front wheel arch (that is if the wiring harness retainers are broken) and it was hanging in the wheel well. Well I have slightly oversized tires on the truck which often rub the inner well on tight turns. Guess what else it was rubbing? The wiring harness. Guess which one and only wire was broken? The one going to the speed sensor. On repairing the wire viola no more ABS or Brake light.
So a lot of you may want to try and trace the wiring harness from the rear of your vehicle to where it passes up to the engine bay (drivers side) and see if you have the same problem, especially if you have oversized tires on the truck.
Those with speedo problems may want to do the same, as this may also be your problem with the speedo not working till you hit a certain speed. It may all be related to getting no signal from the rear speed sensor.
I ohmed the sensor both new and old but cant recall the reading, if any of you guys want to know the readings for a good sensor I can recheck and let you know.
I hope to have aided at least some of you guys on this problem as I know its bugging a lot of you.
Jock
