Subject: Exhaust leak, new muffler? IP: Logged
Message: I think I may have pin-pointed where my problem was that I talked about in another thread. Some of you said it may be my cat and now that I have sealed up any leaks in my manifold, I get the problem a lot more. So when I was under my truck checking my rear diff. fluid level, I noticed I had a hole around 1/8" across and there was balck "carbon" or "soot" around that hole. I turned on my truck and felt some exhaust blowing out of the hole beneath where the tail pipe exits the muffler. I would like to know if I should have exhaust coming out of anywhere but my tail pipe? I dont want to spend too much cash since I still plan on selling the truck so what is the cheapest, loudest, free-flowing muffler I can have welded into place? Damn, I sure do wish I went for the Gibson group buy way back.
P.S.- I found out what dirty gear lube tastes like and trust me, you dont want to know!

Message: If it in your muffler it's probably deleiberate. They have a hole for drainage.

Message: Of course it's a hole so it can't be avoided.
