 Subject: 3 yr./36K bumper to bumper warranty

I recently purchased a 2002 Dakota QC with 24K miles from a private owner. After driving it for a couple of days, I realized the sound I was hearing coming from the engine compartment was not the rumble of the 4.7 V8, but the whining of of the power steering pump. It's really loud. Now that I know what the noise is, it's really driving me crazy.
Do others with the V8 experience this noise, or is this truely a pump going bad?
I can't seem to find out what is covered under the 3yr/36k bumper to bumper warranty. Does anyone know if they would replace the pump under warranty?
