Subject: Dodge Dakota - Postscript IP: Logged
Message: Well, I'm selling my 2000 Dakota. Time to move on.
I'm not selling it because there is a problem with it, or I've had problems with it. The fact is, it has been virtually trouble free. The ONLY problem I experienced with the truck was a spent battery after 2 years - and the dealer replaced it for FREE!! Nothing else - no squeeks, no rattles - NOTHING.
I can recall Dodge products from years gone by that weren't worth driving off the lot - stuff broke, and broke often. Not anymore. Dodge has obviously worked hard with their truck line-up to make improvements - DRAMATIC improvements.
Would I, if I had it to do again, make the same purchase - buy the 2000 Patriot Blue 4.7 Dak over again?? DAMN STRAIGHTS!! It's been a great little truck.
In fact, I liked my experience with the truck and the dealer well enough that I just ordered another Dodge truck - a '04.5, 1 ton Quad Cab, SRW, Cummins HO.
I want to thank all of you who have put up with my questions over the past couple of years. There are many knowledgeable folks that frequent this site who have been gracious enough to share information. It was always appreciated.
Thanks again,
MD

Message: Best of luck with your diesel - a friend of mine just bought his third one; they've all been great trucks. Much quieter since '03; he says the difference is the injection pump. Not sure how just that change could make that big a difference ? But definitely much quieter.
