Message: I had shock failure @ 12kmi, while swapping them out noticed that the 4x4s dont have coil springs like the 2x2s have. Wouldnt you think the 4x's could use the springs for more strength.

Message: Torsion bar suspension is well established - just a different system than you're used to seeing. The old muscle cars have this suspension too; stiffness determined by the thickness of the bar.

Message: Are Durango and Dakota 4xs the only ones with torsion bars? I was thinking maybe thats why durango wheels fall off.

Message: the wheels fall of because of "BALL JOINT FAILURE" which has nothing to do with torsion bars. Chrysler has used torsion bars on most models they have built since the early 60's, the reason that most of you are unfamiliar with them is because back in the 70's when Chrysler switched to smaller cars with front wheel drive, coil springs were required due to both the smaller size of the car wieght savings and the fact it is just not possible to get them into a workable design compatable with FWD.
in this mans opinion, the best riding cars from the 60's and into the late 70's were Mopar's with torsion bar front suspension.
