Message: I plan on cleaning my TB like it says on SpeedTweaks and have never taken off my TB before. It seems pretty simple but the part where all the cables and brackets are seems like it will give me trouble. Is there any way to take the whole bracket off with cables still attached in one piece? I also noticed that the cables were not tight and there was a fair amount of play or slack in them, is that normal?

Message: You didn't mention which year or engine you have. On my 2000 3.9L, the bracket is held on the TB by three screws. You pop the cables off the linkage (carefully) then pull the bracket away. Some play is normal. If your truck runs ok and shifts ok (auto only) with the slack in the cables, then its probably correct. Sometimes the auto's will get too much slack in the kickdown cable and won't shift correctly.
