Message: Bowtie,
It's my turn.....LOL! Don't take this too seriously....
I've have kept quiet for a while now in your discussions, but it has tempting to step in and say something. I know you probably wonder why I haven't been harassing you. The problem is I have too many "REAL" arguments going that actually pertain to relevant information that DAKOTA owners can use, learn from, and make their own decisions/conclusions from.
But hey, look on the bright side. Dodges may not be the best trucks/cars in your opinion, but we obviously have the best forum. It's got to be the best. Why else would so many Chevy, Ford, Honda, and Toyota Lovers hang out on this board?

Message: Way to put it Wiplash. these ass holes are so stuck on the idea that they are perfect, that they cant see some other good vehicles. I know chevy and ford both make some good vehicles. not very many, but there are a few. I'd love to have an 03 or 04 cobra, or even a z06. But im not about to buy one when i could spend less money on buying and building a used dakota and go even faster. hmmm. i'd have a dodge pickup that was faster than a supercharged cobra, or chevys top of the line vette. good buy imo.

Message: Actually you could get a dart or barracuda in 69 with a 440 right from the factory. They were M code cars. They used the same exhaust manifold on the right side as a 383 dart, but the left was a 440 a-body only. [wish I had a couple of those laying around]. But back to dakota land. I am trying to find a set of wheels for my 98, but I am not interested in any honda wheels. I like the centerline auto drag style wheels, but I can't find them for the small 6 lug pattern. Does anybody out there know any wheel companies that special order wheels? I emailed centerline, but was told [no riveted wheels for heavy trucks] I wonder if he ever weighed a 73 charger.

Message: If chevy is so smart, why did they make a small block that has 4 more c.i. that a big block. I know it is a small block, so dont think i am that stupid, but you would think they could be smarter!

Message: jelious that chevy makes a big inch small block?whats wrong with the 400 i have one in my 85" Regal and i love it. did you know that chevy now offers a stroker kit to bump displacement up to 427ci. you can also get a 472 small block through GM PERFORMANCE PARTS catalog. a 454 bored 60 over isent even that big(468ci). though im in the process of stroking my 427ci big block chevy to a hugh 535ci with the use of a .5 stroke and a tall deck block. sorry just realized you dodge guys probably dont care, but chiggey got me on the subject. i still dont see what the problem is? 396bb 400sb who cares chevy later offered a factory bored 396 that sported 402ci.
just my two cents

Message: actually I think in 1968 > all factory 396's were really 402's (bored .030") but still labled as 396
But the 400SBC was a junk block anyway.

Message: I have a 454 chevy bb. Its the best motor I've ever had [hold my boat in one place] I have 2 440 ci mopar motors making it move. It had 2 454s when i bought it, but it left me stranded 2 times, so i put one block on a chain, and the other in the garage, incase i need another one. Then had 2 440s built by ray barton. one put out 606 hp and the other 608hp now the boat goes pretty good. both motors are rated lower than the 454s were, but the boat is faster now. figure that out.

Message: How about some opinions folks. I asked last week but have been gone. I own a 2003 Silverado and just feel it's too big. I'm a long time Nissan driver but don't really wanna go back to a "compact" pickup and feel the Dakota might be my truck. I'm looking at the 4dr quad but can't decide if the V6 would make me happy (plus resale value) or if I should pay the extra and get the V8 with the 5sp A/T..Any help/input wud be appreciate. Thanx, Marty

Message: go with the v8....same mileage, more power, better resale value! if paying 500-700 extra bothers you, bitch to the salesman about how great "this truck" would be with a v6 if he tries to get you in another one, say "no i want this one, but dont wanna pay for the v8" maybe it will work, maybe it wont!
