I have a 99 DAkota 5.2L . What is the normal pressure under idle when hot? Mine stay just under 40 and idle and while going 6o mph. Is this a warning that something is going wrong?

Sounds like there is something wrong with your gauge... it HAS to go up, unless your spraying oil out all over the place.

Get the sending unit checked, and then the gauge calibrated.
