Message: Hello Everyone,
I own a 99 Dodge dokata sport 5.9L reg. cab short bed.
I live in IL. I'm going to move to CA. I'm towing a 6 by 12 foot trailer. With a clas 3 hitch. the total wieght with trailer will be 4300 pounds. I will be driving 2055 miles. I was woundering if you think my truck will do fine in the rockys. Is this a good idea or no? Do you think i'll make it up the rockys? Please respound.

Message: According to the books I have the R/T is rated at only a 2000 lbs trailer. My understanding is the the computer is setup for performance type driving and not for towing. Maybe someone else has a better explanation

Message: Do you have the R/T? If not, no problem as long as you have a tranny cooler and lock out the O/D. (unless you have a 5speed). The hardest part will be coming down the western slope of the rockies (I'm a Colorado native, boy do I miss the Rockies) so ensure the trailer or your truck has a good trailer brake system.
