Subject: 4 wheel drive conversion IP: Logged
Message: I have a 97 dakota but it is 2wd. I love this truck and was thinking about converting it to 4wd. Any ideas on how difficult this would be and what i would need to do it.
Thanks

Message: If you're asking the question, you obviously don't own a tool kit with wheels on it or a hyralic lift. so forget it,

Message: The NICE way of saying that is,
Converting a 97 2wd dakota to 4wd is most likely way more trouble than it's worth. Transfer case, driveshaft or transmission, suspension, wheels and more. You should trade up to a more recent model with 4wd, unless your sentimental value is worth several thousand dollars.

Message: Don't even expect to make the change for a few thousand dollars, as ND seems to suggest might be possible. I kind of thought I said it the nice way, but with a few less words ? hahaha wasn't me, but please forgive those of us who actually do own a tool chest with wheels.
