Message: I have a 93' Dakota with the 5.2L 4x4...
I recently replaced my original shocks with Monroe Matic Plus shocks, great ride on or off road... would recommend Monroe to anyone... my friend had put bilsteins on his ranger and they went quicker than hell he put Monroe Sensa Trac on and the ride is increadable especially off road.

Message: Okay, after saving up for two months, I walk into the local speed shop to order the Edelbrock IAS shocks. The guy tells me that practically every Edelbrock shock they've sold has been returned. "Don't waste your money." Tells me that they don't come close to what they advertise. Recommends Monroe Sensa-trac or Relfex. What gives this credibility is that they could've had my money, but sent me away to spend it somewhere else. I'm surprised, but grateful. Any thoughts?

Message: I just replaced my worn out OE shocks with Monroe Reflex.
The truck handles better now then when it was new.
Less brake dive, less roll, and is not harsh at all.

Message: My 93 is just aboout to get a new set of Sensatrac shocks on front & rear. I've had the truck since summer of 2002 and this is my first replacement. The old ones are shot, with the left rear being completely broken in two. Caught Sears fall special on free install with purchase. Shocks were a total of $213.91 with tax. Carries lifetime warrantee on parts & labor.
Any review or opinions on the quality of the Sensatracs?
Thanks,
~Bean

Message: If I read the post correctly, you have already bought the SensaTrac shocks, and are asking, after the fact, what people think of them?
I concur with daddio, the Reflex is a much better shock and worth the extra $$$ to get them. I have the SensaTracs on my '99 RC and really wish I would have spent the extra coin for the Reflex...
(I have them on my '02 QC and '01 Durango.)

Message: dakota318 -- no flame here, but yer friend didn't kill a set of bilsteins... i can assure you.
I've been running bilsteins in all my bmws, as well as my dak under some of the most severe conditions. You'll be hard pressed (HA! pun intended) to destroy them short of curbing your truck at 50mph.
Under intended working conditions, Bilstein will replace a failed shock (pair) free of charge if damage is workmanship related.
Try again. Monroes are cheap shocks, use cheap internals and deliver par to subpar performance for a short duration of time. In a pinch, yea-- monroe (or any other shock for that matter). A set of bilsteins in most cases will usually outlast the vehicle they're installed on. Ask anyone who knows their arse from their elbow.
You end up spending just as much, if not MORE money buying cheap shocks at intervals then dropping coin ONCE on a quality set.
