 Subject: Stage 2 chips

I was thinking of buying a stage two jet computer chip for my 99 3.9 dakota. But i used to have pinging problems of course, before they reprogrammed the computer . Is getting this chip going to just make the pinging come back?? Before they reprogrammed it, high octane fuel and even a cooler thermostat didn't get rid of the ping completely so i'm a bit dubious that it will prevent it if i get this chip. I need to get more power though, this thing is a powerless whore.

Got a Jet Stage 2 in my '00. With the t-stat and exhaust my truck has really woken up.

Got a stage II chip in mine, and she really runs strong. If you buy from summitracing.com, they will give you a 30-day money back warranty.
Sounds like you need a good warranty in your position.

Used to run one in my '97 3.9L. They work excellent in the 3.9 but not in the 5.2/5.9L engines.
Well worth it for the V6.
Don't worry about Art...we've got more reliability with modifications than the V8's. Especially in the heads with boost...hehehehehe.

It should not hurt at all when towing, just make sure you are running premium fuel. If you hear pinging or detonation I would remove it during the tow otherwise you should do just fine and enjoy the additional horsepower/torque. :)

I heard Mopar dicontinued the 4.7 PCM upgrade because of towing issues. Apparentky it was causing problems but that was Mopar not Jet.
