I have narrowed down my choice of pickups to the 2000 Dakota 4x4 Club Cab. I’ll be buying one with the 4.7 V8 and tow package. When I am shopping around is there any particular things I should look for that have been problems with these units. Any help you can give will be appreciated…

Auto tranny is suspect, as on many vehicles. SERIOUSLY consider the 5 spd manual tranny.

Really ? No problems with my 4 speed auto 45 RFE ('00). Are you thinking of another tranny ? The auto behind the 2000 4.7s is a new, beefier design. If doing a lot of towing you might want to look for 3.92 gears; but I've done pretty well towing 5000 lbs in hilly driving with the 3.55s.
