I own a 2003 Dak w/14763 miles just had to have rotors turned due to warping! I baby this truck and less than 15,000 miles for brake work? I also had a clicking noise, I thought lifter noise. Dealer said crankset is out of spec and needs to be replaced and they needed the truck for 3-5 days. I expected dealer to provide
alternate transportation, they said they talked to regional rep and the request was denied. The dealer told me to call the national customer service line (1-800-992-1997) and they also declined my request for replacement transportation. 7-70 powertrain warranty my ass.

They're doing the work for you under warranty, but they're not providing "alternate transportation" is that correct? And to verify, your title is 7-70 warranty My Ass? You're just being a bitch here. If you want to complain that your dealer doesn't provide you a free rental then that's valid, but DC is fixing your truck for free which is what a warranty is.

My dealer provides a free rental from Enterprize any time they have the truck over 2hrs for the first 36months, yours doesn't. That is not the fault of DC, it's your dealer.

So your complaint, while possibly valid, is not one with the warranty, it's more the customer service of your dealership..

I've always had much better service luck with five star dealers than the little rinky-dink ones. It's best to talk to them up front then consult another dealer if you don't feel something is right.

DC built the vehicle using defective parts, not the dealer. This is a DC qc issue, its kind of hard for the dealer to do DC's QC after the fact.
In addition the dealer offered to pay 1/2 of rental fee because they also think I'm being screwed by DC!

I agree, I had the same kind of problem where I had a bad pinging noise and it took the dealer 3 days to take things apart to investigate. The dealer wouldn't cover a rental so they said to call customer service. The request was denied! Like it was said before, DC is just trying to protect their bottom line. That's why we have problems like the balljoint issue. Oh, the pinging was NEVER resolved, DC says it is a characteristic of my vehicle which is BS! Their warrantys are not good for sh*t.!

All I have to say is buy a chrysler service contract, you spend the extra money to give you a full warranty 5007+ idems cover and they will give you a rental anytime, doesn't matter is it's under the factory warranty or on the contract

The brake shoes/pads/drums/rotors are only covered for 12mo/12k. Yeh, it sucks but IS in writing in your warranty statement. RTFM.

Where have you been hiding to NOT know about the crappy brakes (and ball joints)? Just bypass the dealer (they'll just warp again shortly) and do what everyone else does: Hawk pads and PowerSlot rotors.

And what is a "crankset"? I assume a bad rod journal or bearing? They ARE covering that, right?

I still think you're being unrealistic. A warranty covers the repair of the warrantied product, NOT any inconvenience you may face because of the repair.

If I buy a GE microwave for my kitchen and 9 months later it break, GE will allow me to take my microwave to a repair center and they WILL fix it for free, but they damn sure won't give me a lender microwave while they repair it. Moreover, I wouldn't EXPECT them to! If they are fixing it for free, you should STHU and shop your dealer better next time. We have two dealers in town. Al Smith and Rick Herdricks, Al Smith gives a loaner, Hendricks doesn't. Yeah, I bought mine from Al Smith and get a loaner from Enterprise even when they are doing a simple service. This is NOT DC's fault that you don't have a lender. It's insane that you're acting a fool over DC because of it. The only thing that is DC's fault is that your vehicle broke, and they're fixing that. Sooooo... and Eddie Murphy once said, "Have a coke and STFU"...
