Does anyone know the fluid capacities for a 1999 dakota 5.2L V8,4x4,with auto trans. I need to change oil in F&R diff. trans case and transmission. Also do I need a gasket for the diff. or can I use black RTV. Were there diff auto transmissions made for this truck, if so how can you tell which one you have.thanks............

Don't bother cracking the Diff cover.... Go buy yourself a "Mity-Vac" and suck the stuff out thru the fill hole... and use it in revers to fill your diff back up. If you think $35 is too much to spend on a mity-vac, just think how many other ways and places you can use it... suck out & replace PowerSteering and brake fluid - Also eases the torment of bleeding your brakes. Good for checking vacuum-related sensors/actuators. Many other great uses you'll come up with. One of the most indepensible tools I've purchased.

There is no differential gasket, came from the factory with
silicone on it. Yes there were some different transmissions,
either call the dealer with your VIN, if that don't work there is a
build plate under the leading edge of your passengers seat that
has a code for your trans on it.
