I had my 2002 quad cab in to my dealer today to look into a rattle I was hearing. When I picked the truck up tonight , he said the problem was upper ball joints and they had been replaced at no cost. He told me that Chrysler was sending out a recall this month and they were replacing any faulty ones as they found them. A pleasant suprise. Absolutely no hassle. The dealer was Wendell Motors in Kitchener Ontario Canada.

Message: Recall or not, I'm still putting the Moogs on my 2001 QC 4x4. They have already been shipped and I'm just waiting for them to come in. I doubt that the control arm you had replaced is any better than the one that came off of your truck. But I could be wrong...perhaps D/C snagged most of the new Moog ball joints coming out for the 2001+ Daks and retrofitted them to their stockpile of control arms...maybe that's why it took so long for Moog to crank out these newer ball joints...they were too busy feeding D/C ball joints that actually last.
Good luck to everyone with this ball joint problem. My ball joint problem will be history once I get my Moogs put on.

Message: skipd,
Are they replacing only "faulty ball joints" like you stated or is this going to be a "recall" like you stated. There's no in between. If I bring in my 2000R/T for a recall notice on ball joints they are supposed to replace them even though my ball joints are fine. If they don't do this then it's not a recall. Which is it?

Message: Same thing, had my '02 in for general service and asked them to check the ball joints (due to all the talk here, and an occasional clunk from the front end.) 4 hours later they called and said they had replaced both upper and lower. No hassle, either - Vancouver, WA Mazda Dodge.

Message: Will DC cover my balljoint replacement if there is a recall, even though my truck is far from being under warranty?

Message: If they issue a recall, you have a certain amount of time to get the service done and it does not matter how long you have been out of warranty.
