Don't know how many Dakota and Durango owners are aware of it, but these trucks have a serious potential problem with battery acid gasses causing corrosion in and around the fender well where the battery lives. Happened to my '98. I installed a "Battery Mat" which fits under the battery and absorbs/neutralizes this acid. My eBay listing for this item just closed and I have a bunch left at a really great price. Go to eBay and do a search for item #2463054262. This will give you the whole sordid story.
