Subject: Disable Chime? IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone know how to disable the chime? I mean the gas chime and dummy light chime...Not sure if all the annoying 'ding ding dings' come from the same source. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Ive checked prior posts and can find nothing of real use.

Message: I did the very same thing to mine only a few
months after I bought it new. The chime ding a
ling thing drove me nuts.
Mine is a 02 Dak so your chime may be in the same
location. While the chime is doing its thing, you
can hear it behind the drivers side kick panel.
Remove the kick panel. Disconnect the battery,
unplug all connectors from the module you'll see
located there and remove it. Remove cover from
module. Locate small black buzzer looking thing
in the middle of the board. Look at wire traces on
back of module. Cut either trace going to the
chime. Make sure you remove enough trace so the
chime can't go off. Re-install everything. No more
chimes but all your warnings lights are still
working ok.
Nice thing about doing it this way and not
unsoldering the chime from the module is, you can
always re-solder across the trace cut you made and
the chime will work again, to drive you nuts once
again.
I posted this a few months ago on this board and
some replys said I may have voided my warranty.
So you might want to check into that first.
Good luck......

Message: Hey thanks...mine is a '03 quad and the TCM which is probably the module that we're talking about was just replaced due to lightning damage. I'll take a look and see if i want to mess with it. Thanks again

Message: i haven't personally looked at my dakota dinger, but i did make-shift dinger dampener on an old RX-7 i had one time. the mazda dinger was a little black thinger about 1.5 inches in diamter, i simply took a couple of cotton balls and some electrical tape and taped over it. yeah, the dinger still dinged, but it was no longer a big dinger, heh, it was such a little dinger after i put on the jimmy hat, it was hardly noticable.
just a suggestion if you didn't want to void your warranty by doing a hardware changer to your dinger.

Message: So what would Ford Lightning damage be?
My hitch torn off trying to tow one to the shop?
Or is it just the rotten smell of ford exhaust sitting at a stop light?
Or maybe the the white trash left a shell in his gun on the rack in the back window? hit a bump, shoot my tire out?
Believe me it was the REAL thing my friend, not some ford fake....
