I have a 2002 Dak 4x4 quad cab 5.9L with 80k miles. I have a god-awful rattling/grinding noise that is very loud when the enging is torquing, even a little. Smoothes out when I back off the pedal, but I can hear it loudly if I even tap the pedal. I can't hear it sitting still, idling, just when I start to drive. I can't find anything loose yet. Anybody have any ideas what this might be? Help!

I don't know much about the fan clutch. Do you mean it may be loose, or worn out? Is this something I can replace myself?

The grinding noise could be your teeth when you sleep at night. Do you have a sore jaw in the morning?
