Subject: Heater Core Repair IP: Logged
Message: Hello everyone. Has anyone here ever had their heater core pop a gieser? Well mine did and not only did it thor a whole bunch of fog, and coolant over the inside of my truck, but it's a $1100 repair. I know it will be a pain in the butt to do it myself, but I would like to know what all of your opinions are, if anyone has done it themselves. I know it requires decharging the AC, and removing the Airbags and entire dash but I am a poor man right now and would like to get some good help.
Oh. It's on a reg cab 98 2.5l 5spd.
Thanks again, Rat

Message: what is $1100 about a heater core??
i have a whole heater core-a/c assembly (the whole box that sits under your dash) that i have been trying to get rid of. I removed it out of my 1998 Dakota because racecars dont need heat.
$40 + shipping... and it really isnt that hard to swap... just a bunch of screws (dash)

Message: Hey thanks for the quick reply. See, from what the service manual say, you have to deactivate your Airbags, and drain your A/C. But if it's really as simpl as you say then I would like to talk to you about your heater core. e-mail me at
