Subject: cruise control prob when warm
IP: Logged

Message:
The cruise control on my 2000 QC w/ 4.7 will turn off when the engine is warm. When I shut off the engine and let it cool down I can turn it back on. But, if I turn the engine off and back on while still warm it won't work. Also the Resume/Accel button has stopped working. Is this related? Any ideas?

Big Al, check with the dealer. There may have been
a recall on that problem. I had a full size Ram,
same year that was recalled. Something about what
they called "clock spring" under steering wheel.
Mine was no problem but part was replaced anyway
by dealer.

Good luck

it could be steering wheel switch related. if the Resume/Accel switch is not operating its at least one sign.

my '97 has always had problems w/ the On/Off switch on the wheel since it was new. had dodge look at it several times but since it worked if you pressed it just right and held it long enough.... they wouldn't replace it under warranty. i've just put up with it.

it could be the on/off switch failing and causing the problem. perhaps not though. the switches on the wheel communicate with a control computer somewhere in the truck. it could also be the computer module. if this module is under the hood (where the temp would have more impact) then this might be a more appropriate place to start.
