Message: I heard the if you replace the lower ball joint on a dakota 2 wheel drive, then you need to get an alignment. Is this true, I'm not sure why. Would this only apply if you removed the lower control arm?

Message: Anytime you replace a front suspension component (ball joint, bushing, tie rod, etc) that can change the geometry of the front suspension you should have the front end aligned.
I have heard alot of people getting lucky without doing an alignment after the ball joint swap. But a $50 alignment is a lot cheaper than $300 for a new set of front tires.

Message: And you might just be surprised how far out of spec your alignment was before adding the ball joints. Unless an alignment was done recently.

Message: I use firestone myself. 110 for a Lifetime Alignment. And where I live that is a laser alignement that is good for the entire lifetime of the vehicle.
