Subject: Upper Control Arms IP: Logged
Message: I have an 02 Dakota sport 2wd and I am fighting with the dealer about a frontend crunch noise that happens when I make hard turns while braking. Like pulling into a parking spot. When the truck had 2000 miles on it I noticed it and brought it to the dealer. They serviced it and the problem went away but has now returned. The service guy went back through the service history and said when they originally fixed it they pulled the upper control arms off and greased them.
What would they have been greasing? Does this sound like a band aid fix to something else? Thx

Message: The dealier is just being lazy, they pulled that greased the upper arm joints game on me too until I actually looked at them and they can't be greased. Your problem is the lower ball joint. You make your turn, the load comes off the wheel and on the way back down it pops back into place. If its under warranty, demand the the dealier replaces them or call the Chrysler Rep in that area. (if the dealer wants to play with you wellbeing) This is a dangerous situation, if it goes to far the whole assembly can come apart and you and your truck could wind up in a ditch. Otherwise replace them yourself for about 40 each. Take off you wheel and pull up on the wheel studs, you'll more than likley feel a pop from that joint.
