Message: people have told me that you pop the cap off the top with a knife, and there is a nut inside it. I cut mine off about an inch and a half below the knob, and put a small carbon fiber knob on it. It is a b&m I got through summit, it stays on with set screws, I drilled into the shaft in 3 spots, so the set screws would have something to bite into, it works great, and hasn't come off yet, and i shift hard all the time. the shorter shifter makes shifting a little bit quicker, but not as much as a hurst shifter does. Plus the shorter shifter looks better.

Message: Yeah, you pop the center cap out, unscrew the nut (I think it's 15mm), and then the shift knob will unscrew.
