I've seen posts with references of folks saying their engine temp is right at 180 with a 180 t-stat or they see their enginee shifting while the rpms are in the yellow...I take it these are pre-2001 DAKs, perhaps even 2000 DAKS, as my 2001 has no numeric markings in the temp gauge nor yellow/red areas in the tac.

Did DC change over recently to the 'blank' 2001 gauges or are there reference points you guys are using for your measurements?

I'm more interested in deciphering my temp gauge.

Thanks.

Ah Hawkeye, just what I figured...DC getting real cheap between 2000 and 2001 gauges, how much do those idiots think they saved, pinching the pennies for the bottom line (but sigh, who isn't?)

BTW, any whiteface gauges out for the 2001 DAKs yet...hope they have numbers and colors, and anyone got a URL showing the 2000 dash/gauges?

NEWS BREAK:

2002 DAK models will only have speedos going up to 55 (don't sue DC if ya get busted for speeding)...all other gauges are discontinued and to save cost, all doors will be replaced with nets! Oh, I think I also read that all motors are being scrapped, and you'll be issued a pair of size 12 Fred Flinstone 'Sure Grip' run flat treads, which also supplement the new 'Con Crete' No Chip tires at all four corners.

I ache for the 2002 owners....who knows what else DC will discontinue or make you pay extra for what use to be 'standard'

I've been looking at the white-faces (Indiglo-style) for my 2001, but haven't bought 'em, cuz the 2001's (at least for the 4.7) read 7,000 RPM from the factory, but 6,000 on the after-market variety like the 97-00's.

I'll agree that the deletion of numeric values for the secondary gauges is a pretty lame idea....
wouldn't YOU like to know what your temp or oil pressure REALLY is? OR YOUR REDLINE?!!

As far as it being a cost-cutting issue, though...didn't DC already have the silkscreens for the "2000-style" secondary gauges? Seems like the real savings would be to simply go with the ones that are already in place (with the exception of the tach - I believe an accurate reading is pretty much a neccessity).

I'm hoping that by the time I'm ready for a new DAK (probably in 2005), I'll be getting a fuel gauge.

Sigh...............

broeheem,

I installed my 2000 Indiglo-style gauges two days ago. Heading out to pull them off again to reset them, since my speedo is stuck at 55mph!

"Uh... really officer, I just thought everyone else was going really slow!"

They look Schweeeet at night, and during the day too! Not hard to install really, hardest part was identifying the proper wire coming off the harness for the switch. Psst... hint... its the brown and white one. Oh, there are two? Uhhhh...
