Subject: P0442 after body lift IP: Logged
Message: Any ideas on a 3"bl causing a P0442 code? I checked the canister hoses under drives side, checked gas cap and filler hose to tank, reset code and it came back again tonight after a couple minutes of driving. It was fine all day after reset until tonight. This first happened 2 nights after my BL and rear add-aleaf. It was slushy and I puti in 4X4 and hit it hard around a corner when the light first came on. Can water do this? I looked for causes here but am looking for specifics of a new BL. I dont want a run around from dealer saying it was bl and then the bl installer saying its unrelated. Are there specific items that were moved in the body lift that could cause this? thanks

Message: P0442 is evaporative emmission control system leak detected (small leak). On some kits they include 2 extended vaccum lines (one small one big) that go to the evap canister. But dont know what brand of kit you have. Maybe it just pulled a small vacuum hose off that needed to be lengthened. Just a guess but check all around the evap canisters and equipment.

Message: Bl kit is performance accessories and I dont think there were vaccume hoses included. Im going to lift installer this afternoon and they are going to check all hoses... that could have been stretched or loosened

Message: Found a small hose with split end and disconnected, with a green screw cap, under the master brake cylinder. It goes from under the fuse box to somewhere back. (Are my auto mech skills showing?) Dont know what its for but I cut, connected, reset code, I'll see what happens
