Subject: Center Console Install IP: Logged
Message: I recently bought a used center console to go into my '99 Dakota. I currently have the split bench seat with the center seat/console section. It appears that the inner seat brackets on each seat have that bracket sticking out to support the center seat section. Do I need to replace the inner seat tracks in order to install the center console? Has anybody done this already? Any help is appreciated. Thanks,

Message: Easy job! Unbolt your front bench, you'll see that the center seat brackets are riveted to the bucket seat mounts front and rear. Center punch and drill the rivets, then knock'em off with a cold chisel - enter seat is removed - re-install seats and mount console to floor. 99's may be bolted instead of rivets, which makes the job even easier.

Message: Thanks for info Scott. Yeah mine are riveted, I figured that worst case, that I could do just as you suggested. Kind of wanted to sell the center section and it would be easier to do if I could include those seat adjusters. It is just that on the parts listing that I have, for the buckets seats, it shows in the picture that center seat bracket sticking out from underneath the bucket seat. Must be an error or something, I need to hunt down a Dakota and see what kind of seat adjusters that they have? Anybody here with bucket seats that could tell me what type of seat adusters they got? Thanks,

Message: I'd be interested in the center seat if it's dark graphite gray in color. Martin
