Subject: Stuck inside truck IP: Logged
Message: I drive a 2001 Dodge Dakota with about 28k miles on it.
Coming home from the gym, I pulled up in my driveway and
tried to get out. The driver side door would not open. Tried
the passenger side door, samething. Tried to roll down
windows but they would not roll down either (eletric locks/
windows). So, I called my friend and told him I'm stuck i
nside my truck. He did not believe me until he came over
and saw me, helplessly, stuck inside my vehicle. I always
kept the 24hr road side assistance card that
DaimlerChrysler (Dodge) gave me and figured, I should give
them a ring.
Called them, went through a few menus and within a
minute got a live person. Told the lady my sitsuation while
trying to not laugh too much and she replied "sir,
unfortunately, we do not have technical information on
owners stuck inside their own vehicle, only owners stuck
outside their vehicle." So, I told my friend to come back in
3-4 hours and would drop my truck off at the dealership.
Luckily, Dodge sent me a blanket 6 months prior to this
event which would keep me warm in the 5 degrees weather.
Go to the dealership in the morning and my passenger side
window finally rolls down. Pull up in the front of the service
department, friend backs his truck up to my window and I
climb out. Go inside, tell them my story, and the rep didn't
really believe me. Walks out to check odemetere and finds
out, doors won't open. Get all the paper work done, rep
tells me has never heard of this before and I proceed to wait
in my friends car to see how they would get my truck
moved.
First guy walks out, tries to open the truck but realizes the
truck won't open. Goes back in and gets another guy (twice
as big as him) and he comes to the same conclusion. They
both go back inside and get a short guy to come out and
have him climb inside the car window.
Not too thrilled about Dodge right now.
PS: Video up in a few days :D
Cliff notes:
1) stuck inside truck
2) sleep inside truck w/dodge blanket
3) go to dealership, get out through passenger window
4) they send out three guys, only the small guy can get
inside
5) only one so far they heard of this happening to someone

Message: Sorry to hear about the rough night, Bet this excuse wouldn't fly too good with the girlfriends parents.
So you see sir, the doors wouldn't unlock and the windows wouldn't roll down, so we had to spend the night in the truck. Thanks god Dodge sent me a blanket and a box of rubbers. LOL

Message: Something not right here. Having had the door panels off mine recently I can't imagine how one door could be disabled, let alone both not to mention the windows as well? Seems highly suspect.

Message: ya,,I could see someone tampering w/your doors (by pulling the freaking covers off and unhooking the rods that open the latch),,but then you wouldn't be able to get in, in the first place. Could you have hit a bump so hard that all the crap in the doors came loose?
I take it you didn't have a sliding rear window/
It would be funny if dodge sent you a Burn-blanket next time - ouch! I would be irrate,,probably sue.

Message: sorry to hear that you got too familiar with your truck.
ice in the door latch and window regulators could cause this condition. especially in below freezing weather. i'd be surprised that both doors and both widow regulators would freeze up simultaneously.
let us know what BS answer you get from "the doge boys". this i don't need.

Message: So Ross, how much money are you trying to get out of DC? I mean, that is why you staged that little event isn't it? That and to get you name on the net?
Do you really think anybody with slightly more than half a brain buys that half baked crock of shlt? Glad you had the presense of mind to have the video and all the editing equipment necessary to make that tidy little presentation.

Message: Nice of your friend to let you spend the night on your driveway and not in his garage. It may have been a little warmer in there, but it was your stunt. If that ever happened to me, or to anyone else, they would have busted that damn window out and called it a night. But it's your stunt.
