Ha, you can drive it off a cliff, just tighten your seat belt really tight and you should be fine. Let us know how it goes.

I just wish they would've built the damn truck to last. It seems that little 4-banger cars just go and go and go, yet you sink $28K on a "Ram Tough" truck and the freakin thing falls apart on you. I take very good care of my vehicles and have never owned a vehicle for less than 10 years, but my 2001 QC 4x4 Daks front end is garbage. I thought it was safe to buy American again, but now I'm really starting to wonder...

Don't get me wrong though, I didn't buy this truck because I had to. I bought it because my last Dodge Ram saved my life when it rolled over out in the desert. Now it WAS built tough, but this mid-sized truck...I have my doubts about it.

Kev

Now you hardcore Mopar guys aren't going to like this, but here's what I would do(if I had the money)....

Standard cab GenIII Dakota body, Corvette C5 engine and rear transmission(better weight distribution), add a supercharger, lower the suspension, 20" rims with wide tires, high performance springs, sway bars, and BALL JOINTS. Custom race interior(functional, not ricer) with racing seats, custom gauges, and a hot blond in the passenger seat(the main reason for needing a lot of money for the project). Custom exhaust that comes out the side just in front of the rear tires, kind of Shelby style.

Mine's a v6 cc. I'd make it a sleeper. Keep the canopy on it. Soup up the engine, ideally stroke it and such like Larry did. Put on better suspension and performance tranny and put on lower gears, 3.92 or 4.10s. Muauuahahahaha, it would be so evil to be beat by a v6 "work" truck with a canopy...Nothing fancy as for styling it up. Just keep it plain jane stock looking. If I only had the money to burn I'd do just cause it's a v6. Maybe I should write one of them TV shows. Yah know where they redo your house or something but instead take someone's vehicle and turn it in to a hot rod. Heheh, one can dream I guess.

Frost.

Aerobat, I'm not sure why you would want to downgrade to a Chevrogay engine, but what the hey, it's your dream. Good luck on the project and I hope you can make it happen. Maybe you will even be able to get that blonde guy for the pasenger seat.

I figured I'd get some idiotic reply. I said nothing bad about the Dakota, just put in my idea of a cool vehicle that would have an incredible amount of hp, much better weight distribution than a regular truck, and I choose the Dakota as the best truck for the job. I have nothing against any of the Dodge engines, as a matter of fact, I'm extremely disappointed in Dodge for discontinuing the 318 and 360 in the Dak but look forward for the possibility of the Hemi in the future. Just because I like the engine of great American vehicle you want to make fun my manhood. Stick it, a'hole.

I'm sorry. You're right. Chevy does have the biggest aftermarket. Their engines are about 10 times more fuel efficient than Dodge engines. I was just being an idiot. I'm sorry.

Hey, I'm a blonde guy. Can I ride in your hot truck when you swap engines?

Why don't you offer some ON TOPIC remarks about your dream truck(if you're even a Dakota owner), instead of bashing other peoples ideas. Let's see, you replied to my response 5 minutes after I posted it, were you just sitting around waiting to see what I would say? No life except to cause trouble on the internet? Gutless jerk.

If any Administrators are watching this forum, I vote for blocking "Dr. Phil"'s IP address.

OK, I'd said my last 2 cents, I'll let the rest of you post your ideas about a dream Dak, if "Dr. Phil" can keep his trap shut for more than 5 minutes.
