Subject: Adding a tonneau IP: Logged
Message: I just ordered an eXtang Tuff Tonneau cover for my new QC Dakota, which has the factory bedliner in it. That under-rail type bedliner does have lips that cover the front edge of the box and the tailgate.
Will I have a problem getting the rails to line up with the bedliner in place?
Do I need to put the side rail guards on it, underneath the frame of the tonneau?
TIA

Message: Interesting question. I dont htink you should have any trouble. When I ordered my tonneau off the internet for my Quad along with the side rail caps, only the tonneau came the first day. I figured maybe they screwed up the order from the caps and Id have to cancel, so I went ahead and installed the frame and put the cover on. It lined up just fine as far as I could tell. But of course the next day the rails came separately and I had to take everything back off to put them on then put the cover frame back on. ID say it wouldn't hurt to get the caps regardless though. But youll be fine without them.

Message: Thanks for the quick response, Eddy.
I had the eXtang Black Max tonneau on the '99 Ram Quad that I traded in, without the bed rail covers, and a drop-in aftermarket liner. I found that those rails for the tonneau protected the top of the bed from most drops, scratches, etc.
I'd noticed several posts from people using both the rail caps and tonneau. The aftermarket liner I used on the Ram seemed thinner than this Dodge one. I thought I'd ask the question so I'd be prepared to install it once it came...

Message: I just put the Extang Full Tilt Snapless on my R/T. It went right on in less than 45 minutes. I also have an under rail Pendaliner that didn't interfere at all. The nice thing about the Full Tilt is you can remove the whole frame and cover without any tools or just roll back the cover (see link). http://www.extang.com/docs/fulltilt.html
Also, it has a nice rubber seal that rests on the top of the bed and, as far as I can see, will not scratch or rub the paint.
