Subject: Reverse Lights Staying ON!!! HELP! IP: Logged
Message: I checked the archives and didn't see this topic. My reverse lights are staying on all the time, they were fine last night but when I got out of work today noticed they were on as I was walking towards my truck.
I pulled the fuse from inside for the backup lamps and they still stayed on? Maybe I have to pull another fuse from the fuse center under the hood. Either way, why would they stay on? Is there a module or something that goes bad or "sticks" causing this to happen?
My truck makes a great sidewalk light when entering the house but obviously needs to be fixed. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Message: Tell me you haven't had the t-lites out and changed the socket the bulbs go into, seems like a long shot, having both sides done, but... Do the rest of the lights function properly? Never heard of this one.

Message: Nope, haven't changed the socket. I couldn't get them to go out last night even with fuses pulled, they don't draw much so I let them stay on until this morning. They were off this morning when I went out to check the wiring, the reverse lights works just fine now and aren't staying on. I'll have to wait and see if this problem reoccurs, hopefully if it does, it will be when we have warmer weather!
Thanks for the response, Bob.

Message: Maybe just a stuck switch, but that wouldn't explain why it was on with the truck switched off...

Message: Check to see that you don't have your knob that controls your dash lights turned all the way up. If you do the lights on the back stay on. This is a long shot but it may be it..... this would also cause your interiors to stay on as well though..........hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Message: could be the neutral safty switch. my truck's reverse lights used to come on while in "D" some times and the dealer told me it could be the neutral safty switch, unfortunatly they wouldn't replace it unless they could see it and it happened so rarely and randomly they wouldn't do it ....also they couldn't buy just the switch so it would of cost them 1800 can. ( DC wouldn't approve it)...and to be honest I don't know if it does it or not anymore.
