I have a 2003 V6 slt dodge dakota, whenever i get up to the speed of 45 or more i hear a loud wind noise comming from the drivers side door in the upper left hand corner. It is not the window and i had the dealer replace the weather stripping on the door and this did not fix the problem. Now the manager of maintenance says it is normal. I can not believe that is normal for a new truck or for a dodge. Does anyone else have this wind noise screaming into their ear as you drive? Anyone have any idea what might be causing it? Any TSB on it? Thanks for the info and help

Sounds like what they normally do. Instead of actually figuring out the source of the problem, just throw a blanket fix at it and then call it normal if that doesn't work.

One question... you dont have ventshades do you?

no dont think so, not sure what vetn shades are but if its those things that go over the windows then no dotn have them. It sounds like the noise if you crak the window a little, like wind fluttering around in that corner up ther, is hard to ignore as its bother the heck out of me and there is no way that can be normal. IM at wits end,

Well you already know it's the weather stripping. Now you just have to figure out how to fix it.
Since your truck is still under warranty I would stick with pressuring the dealer to fix it. They say it's normal, make them prove it. They must have a similar truck on the lot so have them take you on a "proving" drive.
If in fact the test truck does it, well then welcome to the crappy side of Dodge. If it doesn't tell them to keep working on it.

I'm guessing you did buy the truck brand new?
If not, do a CARFAX on it. It may have been in a
reck and the door jam is not to factory specs.

I have a 92 Ram full size company fleet work
truck. It was in a reck when only a few months
old. The door jam has never been right. It's such
a bad fit that you can see daylight all around
the door jam. The wind noise is there all the
time. I think it should have been totaled.

Your problem sure sounds like a bad fit one to me.

Good luck..

Mine has done it from day 1. Both left and right. Looking at the flow in air across the hood when it is wet, I'd guess it is the air going around the corner of the cab and crossing the gap between the door and the cab sheetmetals. Doesn't leak at teh weather seals, as the high pressure car wash will attest. I just ignore it after having my truck for 3 years. I have other issues to deal with, like bad power steering pump... And ball joints... AAagghhh... If all I had to worry about was some wind noise.

I've got wind noise with mine too. I think it's turbulence around the mirrors.

I have 4x2 SXT 2003 and have the same problem.

The stipping comes down a little creating a gap between the stripping and the steel.

I took it in and watched the guy roll down the window and push up the stripping. I have to do this myself every month or so.

They said that it is the design, since the other style is uglier.
